What is a "Last Dollar" Scholarship?

A T3 Last Dollar Scholarship covers any remaining tuition costs after all Pell grants and/or other federal, state, or institutional aid have been applied. In other words, last dollar scholarships cover the gap -- any last dollars needed to cover the student's tuition.

Housing, books, and other fees are not included.

Last Dollar Scholarships at TCC

T3 Scholars graduating from a Fort Worth ISD high school beginning in 2021 are eligible to receive a last dollar, tuition-only scholarship to TCC for up to 8 consecutive semesters or the completion of a certificate or degree, if all criteria are met and renewal requirements are maintained. To be eligible, the student's family must meet the required income thresholds. To learn more, check out the TCC + T3 eligibility resource guide.

Here's what you need to know:

  • There is not a separate application process for the T3 Last Dollar Scholarship. When you submit your TCC admissions application and supporting financial aid documents, TCC's Financial Aid team will review your material to see if you are eligible. The admission application deadline is June 1 for T3 Scholars. The FAFSA/TASFA and other supporting documents deadline is July 31.
  • Last Dollar Scholarships cover any remaining tuition costs after all Pell grants and/or other federal, state, or institutional aid have been applied. Therefore, you will only see the T3 award in your financial package if you have a remaining amount owed for tuition only.

Last Dollar Scholarships at UTA

T3 Scholars graduating from a Fort Worth ISD high school beginning in 2021 are eligible to receive a last dollar, tuition-only scholarship to UTA for up to eight fall and spring semesters if all criteria are met and renewal requirements are maintained. To be eligible, the student's family must have an adjusted gross income of $65,000 or less. Check out the UTA + T3 page to learn more.

Here's what you need to know:

  • The Last Dollar Scholarship deadline to UTA for Fall 2021 has passed. However, you are still encouraged to apply for admission by June 1 as the University has other competitive scholarships available to students in Mav ScholarShop. The FAFSA/TASFA and other supporting documents deadline is July 31.
  • Have you already applied? There is not a separate application process for the T3 Last Dollar Scholarship. When you submitted your UTA admissions application, FAFSA or TASFA, and other supporting documents, UTA's Financial Aid team reviews your material to see if you are eligible.
  • Remember to check your MyMav account and UTA EMAIL address for ongoing information and updates. You will receive an email notifying you if you have received the "T3 Scholar Award".
  • Your financial aid package or award letter will not say "T3 Scholarship" but rather will be titled as other institutional aid and grants to cover any remaining tuition-only amounts by the university.
  • You MUST formally "accept" your financial aid grants and/or scholarships and “accept” admission directly within your MyMav account to receive your scholarship awards.
  • Questions? Email UTAT3@uta.edu and a dedicated staff member will connect / assist in any way.

What is a "First Dollar" Scholarship?

T3 First Dollar Scholarships are awarded to T3 Scholars who 1) graduate from a Full Launch High School; 2) who enroll in a partner university; 3) who meet family income thresholds; and 4) who complete TSIA requirements.

Beginning in Fall 2021, eligible students will receive a $500 per year scholarship for up 4 years. First dollar scholarships are applied before any other financial aid is applied and disbursed directly to the student, not through his/her university. The amount does not change even if the student receives other state, federal, or institutional aid.

First Dollar Scholarships at T3 Partner Universities

T3 Scholars graduating from a Full Launch High School beginning in 2021 are eligible to receive a first dollar scholarship to a T3 partner university for up to 4 years, if all criteria are met and renewal requirements are maintained. To be eligible, the student's family must meet the required income thresholds.

Here's what you need to know:

  • There is not a separate application process for the T3 First Dollar Scholarship. When you submit your admission application and supporting financial aid documents to a T3 partner university, the institution's Financial Aid team will review your material to see if you are eligible. The admission application deadline is June 1 for T3 Scholars.
  • Different than T3's Last Dollar Scholarships, First Dollar Scholarships are disbursed directly to you so you can use these dollars for any remaining academic expenses such as books or emergencies that may arise.
  • At the beginning of every fall and spring semester (up to 4 years), you will receive $250 deposited directly to your bank account. The account must be in your name.
  • Don't have a bank account? No worries! T3 has partnered with JPMorgan Chase to help you setup a FREE College Chase Account or we can deposit your scholarship to another account with a different banking provider, if the account is under your name.
  • What's Next? Eligible students will be contacted by email beginning in June with information regarding a mandatory information session where the T3 team will take you through each and every step. There will be a few session options throughout July and August to ensure a time works.
  • To remain eligible, you must remain in good academic standing at your university.
  • Questions? Email support@T3partnership.org and a dedicated staff member will connect / assist in any way.
